About Me
I'm a lifelong learner who enjoys reading and applying knowledge from various modalities and mentors to help people reach optimal well-being. At the heart of my philosophy is a holistic approach to healing through body, mind, and Spirit. I graduated with honors from, both, Oakland Community College (OCC) and Oakland University (OU). In between, I studied environmental science at Wayne State University (WSU). I hold a bachelor's degree in Integrative Studies with a minor in Biology from OU. Currently, I am studying to evolve into a skilled Naturopath with the guidance of the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education (NITE) in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
At OCC, I completed my associate in Liberal Arts with Magna Cum Laude honors. I received a 4.0 science GPA and was on the Dean's List for a total of 5 semesters.
I began my environmental aim at WSU as a part of the Student Environmental Action Leaders and Wayne Cares, participating in community clean-ups, tree plantings, etc. Like silica to a nerve cell, an introductory Geology class sparked my attention into the natural world. The awakening had evolved into a personal undertaking of various social and environmental efforts, with an eventual focus on nuclear energy. While attending the university, I worked with the Environmental Science Chair as a research assistant collecting data for an international air quality study. Learning environmental science at WSU led me to become a founder and board member of a non-profit called Alliance to Halt Fermi 3. My time with the 501c3 was mainly spent researching and providing outreach to the public about nuclear energy and its safer alternatives.
My love of the natural world developed into a desire to help people with nature to cure their ailments. In the health food industry, I was a sought-after nutrition consultant which afforded me to practice three of my beloved passions simultaneously, research, teaching and health. I began my endeavors working for a company that manufactured and distributed organic and wild-crafted herbal tinctures, called Good Herbs. At Better Health Market, Health Foods of Rochester, and Plum Market, I motivated countless individuals to find the right supplements and modalities for whatever challenged them. Oftentimes, customers would routinely return and report of the relief themselves or a loved one experienced after following through with recommendations.
With the flexibility of Integrative Studies at OU, I chose to study more than one discipline in the health sciences because being an effective health professional involves assessing and assimilating various methods for the individual in need. Excelling in Human Anatomy, I became a teaching assistant in the cadaver lab and for three semesters educating students with visual aids, study guides, memory tricks, and perhaps most importantly, humor. It brought me much joy when students achieved their goals.
Through NITE, I am expanding my knowledge of healing methods and what is possible. Their mission focuses on a "balanced approach to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness" of treatment. I feel grateful to have found this gem in Michigan and to be learning amongst talented peers and instructors who are also health practitioners in their own field.
I care about the welfare of all living organisms and intend to be a positive force to see life flourish.
